Hole in one for The ACA and London Biggin Hill Airport with successful charity golf day

The Air Charter Association (The ACA) is celebrating the success of its charity golf day in association with London Biggin Hill Airport on the 14th September, which raised more than £4,000 for UK aviation charity fly2help, despite the challenges presented by Covid-19.

After new guidelines came into force, The ACA still managed to host the event by working closely with the golf club to ensure that the last-minute ‘rule of six’ introduced by the UK government was adhered to, with measures such as outdoor dining in team groups.

The charity raffle was kept Covid-safe with a ticketless system and contactless payments, with prizes donated by Dassault Aviation, Eurojet, Get Progress, Lewes Golf Club, London Biggin Hill Airport, Park Wood Golf Club and Signature Flight Support. Main event sponsorship came from global charter operator Luxaviation, with additional support from Eurojet, Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar, RAS Completions, Sovereign Business Jets, VIP Aviation and Zenith Aviation.

Kevin Ducksbury, chairman of The ACA, says: “We want to extend our thanks to everyone who attended our golf event and to our sponsors, whose support ensured its success. It was wonderful to see everyone in person – as the only physical event we’ve been able to host this year, we were thrilled to make the most of golf, working within the government’s guidelines to keep everyone safe. My congratulations go to the winners of prizes in each category – Best Individual, Best Team and Runner Up; as well as the Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin and Charity Hole competitions. The work done by fly2help has made significant differences to many lives through the wonder of flight. We are proud to continue supporting their efforts to raise the spirits of those in need and inspire young people to consider a future in our industry, as we all pull together to face the challenges of 2020.”
