Work in the Air Charter Industry

Work in the Air Charter Industry

The aviation industry is the home of many varied, rewarding and challenging career opportunities. Our member companies cover the full breadth of these opportunities and provide a great place to start or further your career.

Whether you see yourself as a pilot, an engineer, cabin crew, an air charter broker, a dispatcher, an air traffic controller, a baggage handler, a ramp agent, a firefighter, a sales professional, a strategic manager, a route planner, an airport manager, a marketing expert, a stores manager, a financial guru, an IT leader, an aircraft detailer, an interiors specialist, a loadmaster, a trainer, a procurement expert, an insurance broker, an entrepreneur, an HR generalist, a catering manager, a world traveller or the next influencer – the options are unlimited.

One of the more unique features of aviation is that it has few educational barriers to entry, with the sky really being the only limit. Many of the industry’s leading figures started their careers on the ramp, or in flying schools, and gained an exposure to the industry that made them want it to be their homes.
Whilst we’re a highly technical industry, aviation also produces significant amounts of transferrable skills which you can take with you to new roles both within and outside of the sector.

Our member companies have lots of opportunities for continued professional development and as an Association we’re here to support our members by running a number of training courses throughout the year covering a wide range of specialist industry topics as well as more general business areas that benefit many individuals and companies.

We host an annual exhibition called Air Charter Expo (ACE) at London Biggin Hill Airport, one of the very few exhibitions that welcomes the next generation in to see what the industry is all about, as well as making them a part of the discussion on the day in our conference programme.

fly2help
Through our work with and fundraising for the charity fly2help we provide a number of Aim High places each year, which takes school students and puts them into various companies in the aviation industry, to see at first hand the wide variety of rewarding careers that are available. We also support children with life limiting conditions through their Air Smiles Days, funded by the generosity of our members.

We’re always really happy to talk to young people who are considering their next steps, as well as careers advisors who need more support or for someone to come and talk to students about the industry and the great opportunities there are, whilst the world desperately needs pilots and engineers to fill an existing, and growing, skills gap – we already need all of the back line support expertise to allow the aircraft to take off, and that’s a focus for our Association.
