The UK Government’s Covid-19 Recovery Strategy

Following the UK Prime Minister’s update on May 10th on the Government’s Covid-19 Recovery Strategy, the official plan has been published. This document can be downloaded here.

With the gradual easing of travel restrictions around the world, the proposal for a 14 day quarantine on all international travellers has obviously created a great deal of uncertainty for our UK-based members and our overseas members who operate here. The UK Government has stated that they will publish more details, including a list of exemptions, in the coming days. We hope this will address unanswered questions and allow our sector to continue to help people, businesses and the wider economy.

The Air Charter Association held meetings with the UK Government last week and has more scheduled for this week and next. We are working to ensure that the impact on the Air Charter industry is fully understood by both the Department for Transport and the Home Office, and that the best interests of the public, the economy and our members are fully recognised. We are making it very clear what impact an extended quarantine could have on our sector.

We will keep you informed of further information and updates as soon as possible, but please rest assured that we are working hard for transparency as this affects not only our UK members and economy, but the entire industry on a global scale.

We have shared a number of resources available to members during this pandemic on our website.
