The Day After the BACA Awards 2016
Dear BACA Members,
We held our Autumn BACA Awards Lunch yesterday. Nearly 400 guests came together at Guildhall in London to celebrate our fantastic industry. I would like to extend my congratulations to all of our Award winners, and my thanks to our sponsors, all of whom helped to make it a special day. Thanks also to all of our members who attended, many of whom brought guests who have now expressed interest in joining the Association.
Photos of the event are available to view via our website.
We raised over £4,000 for our chosen charity, Orbis International. I am told that this will provide the surgical supplies for more than 500 cataract operations, saving the sight of many people. My thanks go to all those who donated prizes for the raffle and to Dassault Aviation for donating a fantastic model of an 8X on the day to be auctioned off.
Following the introduction to the aircraft at the Awards, please do take a moment to explore the Flying Eye Hospital in full here http://gbr.orbis.org/pages/flying-eye-hospital
You can view the tour on your computer, tablet or smart phone. Click “Get On Board” to begin the tour, and then navigate by clicking the blue arrows and dragging the screen to look around. Alternatively you can jump to specific rooms from the floorplan by clicking on the aircraft icon in the top right. Make sure your sound is on so you can enjoy the audio commentary too!
These are exciting times for our Association with a number of initiatives underway that aim to transform what we do and to add real value to the BACA membership. I am really proud to be leading the Association and it is on days like we had yesterday that we can really see the depth of our membership and the people who contribute so much passion and skill to the aviation industry.
Our next event is our training day on 10 November. I encourage as many of you as possible to sign up to attend. We have our usual broker training in the morning, and then in the afternoon we are holding a special cyber-crime session. That latter session is designed to enable our members to share thoughts and experiences, and to be given practical guidance and training by a leading cyber-crime specialist. I hope to be able to identify that speaker shortly, but it is looking like being someone with a lot of experience from a very high profile cyber-crime consultancy. I am therefore greatly looking forward to it.
We hope to be in a position to make a number of announcements between now and Christmas, so I am grateful to you all for your continuing support.
Best wishes
Richard Mumford
Chairman
