CEO Arrival and Breakfast Briefing

BACA Chairman, Richard Mumford
Head of Aviation at law firm Stevens & Bolton LLP, Richard has over 20 years’ experience of regulatory and aviation law. With broad aviation practice, acting for airlines, lessors and countless maintenance and supply organisations, he has a unique perspective on the market, having acted for a wide range of brokers, operators and other market participants.

Richard also dealt with many high-profile regulatory investigations and handling aspects of the creation of the new Financial Services Authority. For this reason, he brings a unique blend of skills and experience to the BACA Council and took over the role of Chairman in March 2016.

In 2017 Richard was included in Aviation Week’s ‘Top Ten Leaders of European Business Aviation’ for his drive to establish standards for the charter brokerage industry.

Paynode, Magnus Henriksson
Magnus Henriksson is the Global Business Director for PayNode, the world’s first payment system developed for business aviation. Launched in 2016, PayNode is a division of the Avinode Group.  In 2008, Magnus joined the Avinode Group as Business Development Manager, responsible for developing the company’s data consulting services as well as managing key projects. He was promoted to Business Unit Director in 2010. During his tenure, the business unit became one of the most respected sources of business aviation information in the industry. Magnus holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Gothenburg.

Jeremy Cook is Chief Economist and Head of Currency Strategy for World First, one of the UK’s leading currency brokers. He is an expert in foreign exchange, responsible for advising the company’s traders and clients on day-to-day market movements, as well as the long-term implications of fiscal policy in the G10 space. Jeremy joined World First as a Corporate Dealer when the company was still in its infancy in 2007. He was appointed Chief Economist in 2010, and is regularly found providing expert analysis and thoughtful insight into the economy on television and across national media.

Hayward Aviation, Matthew Day (Moderator):

Matthew is a director of Hayward Aviation, the specialist business and general aviation team in the JLT group. He has over 25 years insurance experiencing including nearly 20 years direct experience in developing insurance programmes for clients ranging in size from international airlines to private aircraft and rotorwing aircraft. He is a regular speaker on Aviation insurance issues and a Council member on the UK General Aviation Safety Council.

JLT Group, Holly Medforth
Holly joined JLT in 2015 after completing an International Management Master’s degree at the King’s College London and a history degree at the University of Warwick. She obtained a Certificate in the Chartered Institute of Insurance in 2016. Holly works with the Cyber, Content, and New Technology Risks team within the Financial Lines group leading and participating in the placement of specialist cyber policies for clients in a range of industries from telecoms companies to financial institutions, airlines and retailers.

Mountfitchet Risk Solutions, Oliver Clarry-Risk
Oliver has been a broker in both the general insurance market and the world-renowned Lloyd’s of London market, specialising first in commercial, and then non-standard solutions. Oliver has gained a wealth of experience dealing with a variety of clients from across the globe, and has always shown an eye for innovation and the development of new and improved products and continues that trend with his aviation products AOG Protect and De-Ice Protect.”

ITIC, Melanie Daglish
Melanie is Senior Aviation Underwriter at ITIC, the world’s leading insurer of transport professionals.  She is responsible for overseeing ITIC’s portfolio of Aviation clients and has 10 years’ experience in professional indemnity insurance, having worked first as a professional indemnity insurance broker before becoming an underwriter and claims handler. Prior to working in insurance, Melanie worked for a major airline.  She is fluent in French and regularly travels to France, Switzerland and further afield to visit clients

 

The Role of a Broker

Hunt & Palmer, Julie Black
Julie has worked in aviation for more than 20 years, having worked in airport marketing, transitioning to FBOs and for the last 15 years with executive aviation charter brokers. She has worked on a diverse range of charter projects including global music tours and movie promos, government and head of state missions and corporate charters.  Julie leads the Executive Charter team at renowned broking firm Hunt & Palmer PLC.  Julie joined the BACA Council in 2015.

ACC Aviation, Glenn Hogben
Glenn has over 13 years of experience in charter and leasing.  During his time at ACC Glenn has worked on a wide variety of air charter and leasing projects globally and has been an integral part of the team that’s seen ACC grow to be one of the top 5 Aviation Brokerages. As Operations Director at ACC Aviation Glenn has the responsibility for strategic planning and managing the ACC Charter division. Alongside this he also leads the operational side of the business and takes an active part in recruitment and training of new brokers, who all participate in ACC’s bespoke in-house broker training program.

Stevens & Bolton, Daniel James
A Senior Associate at law firm Stevens & Bolton LLP, Daniel qualified in 2004 and is experienced in the sale, purchase and lease of aircraft, engines and components and the associated financing thereof.  Daniel acts for a range of aircraft owners and lessors, charter brokers, parts and other suppliers. Daniel also deals with contentious matters, both domestically and internationally, to include the repossession and recovery of aviation assets, air accident claims and regulatory matters.

 

The Operator’s Perspective

SaxonAir, Jack Hellewell
Jack Hellewell, Charter Sales Manager for SaxonAir, has been part of the SaxonAir team for just over 2  years. After showing strong capabilities and understanding of business aviation, Jack has managed SaxonAir’s charter sales department since January 2016. Jack is a strong advocate of SaxonAir’s ‘client first’ mantra, with both company and workforce striving for the same end goal; providing unrivalled service and aircraft to the charter market.

Cello Aviation, Neil Turnbull
Neil began his aviation career in the very early days of Gama Aviation at Fairoaks. His career has included operations, commercial and some flying experience. Neil owned and ran Flight Management for thirteen years before joining The Charter Company to set up and run their Middle East operation. From there he moved to Comlux Aviation operating a fleet of Airbus ACJ and Bombardier aircraft. Latterly his experience has included the C.O.O. role for Vertis Aviation and currently as Commercial Manager at Cello Aviation operating a Boeing 737-300 VIP and BAe 146 VIP aircraft.

, Becky Carver
With an aviation career spanning nearly 30 years, Becky has extensive knowledge of FBO operations and aircraft charter sales. Starting her aviation career in 1987 as a flight attendant, Becky joined Saudi Arabian Airlines in 2001 working as a senior flight planner. In 2006 she joined Weston Aviation as Station Manager at Durham Tees Valley Airport. Becky then took up the newly created position of GM in 2010, where she continued to oversee the development of Weston Aviation’s expanding network of FBO locations. Becky has continued her career with Weston Aviation and was promoted to Managing Director UK in 2015.

Weston Aviation, Nick Weston (Moderator)
Nick started his aviation career in the Air Movements branch of the Royal Air Force in 1986 and commenced a career in civil aviation in 1992. After a number of management positions with airline ground handling agents, Nick joined TNT Aviation Services in the charter sales department in 1994 where his aircraft charter experience commenced. Launching a new aircraft charter service company in 1995, Weston Air International, Nick then went on to create Weston Aviation in 2001 providing FBO ground handling services across the UK and Ireland which has now grown to a network of four.

Universal Aviation U.K. Jason Hayward
Based in London, Jason is General Manager and an expert on ground support and operations into the United Kingdom. He’s been with Universal since 1997 and has more than 25 years’ experience combined in aviation handling and operations. A native of the U.K. and veteran of the Royal Air Force, Jason has been instrumental in helping establish Universal Aviation offices around the globe. Jason is also an expert on coordinating operations and handling for special events and was Universal’s point person for the 2012 Games in London. He’s shared his insight on operations and special events with many industry publications.

Oxford Aviation Services, James Dillon-Godfray
James is a business aviation and airport development professional with more than 30 years’ experience within these sectors. A graduate in aeronautical engineering from Hertford University, James recently returned to London Oxford Airport after a stint with Marshall Aviation in Cambridge. He has a varied career history, having worked for manufacturers, in aircraft sales and more recently in business aviation development at Oxford airport.

Signature Flight Support, Daniel Myles
Daniel’s first appointment of General Manager for Signature Flight Support at London Luton took place in June 2012, when Daniel moved with his family back from the USA. This was after spending 16 years overseas with TUI Travel PLC – Thomson & First Choice Holidays as Area Manager, managing a number of large overseas resort operations in Winter ski destinations in France & Austria and Summers in Greece & Spain with his final appointment in Orlando, Florida with responsibility of Florida, The Caribbean and the Maldives. Daniel became director of Signature’s busiest UK location at London Luton Airport and was instrumental in the 3 phase £26m FBO development project and the integration of the Landmark FBO into Signature’s operation at London Luton. Daniel’s current role is now Area Director of UK Regions, Germany & South Africa for Signature Flight Support with the responsibility to manage 15 FBO’s with the priority to deliver BBA Aviation’s key values of Safety, Service, Performance, People, Corporate Social Responsibility & Integrity. Delivering our customers and crews a world class safe service at every stage of the customer journey within our FBO’s is our top priority within the network.
