Chairman Richard Mumford to take part in 50km TrekFest

BACA’s Charity for 2017 is RedR, a global charity providing expert training to aid workers and communities responding to humanitarian crises.

Their specialist support ensures that the people responding to disasters have the skills to do so both safely and effectively. RedR is present during every stage of the disaster response cycle, from preparedness, to emergency response, to early recovery and reconstruction.

The charity works in partnership with international and national NGOs (non-governmental organisations), UN agencies, academic institutions, think tanks, governments and the private sector, to improve emergency disaster response, at a global level.

Richard is keen that we raise as much money for RedR as we can this year, and so he has decided to take on the brave challenge of TrekFest – the UK’s ultimate charity trek, covering a distance of 50km through the Peak District.

This involves a route covering rough terrain and lots of steep hills, so is a stiff task!

In return, Richard is asking members to dig deep into their CSR budgets to support the charity, by raising sponsorship for the walk.

Since becoming Chairman of BACA, Richard has struggled to find the time to exercise and so felt that TrekFest would be the perfect opportunity to turn the tide on his fitness, whilst supporting the fantastic charity that is RedR.
